Gundershoffen is situated at the edge of the agglomeration formed by Reichshoffen and Niederbronn-les-Bains. The Commune territory extends eastwards in a landscape of hills surrounding the associated commune of Eberbach and the hamlet of Schirlenhof, site of the first battle of the 1870 war between a French cavalry patrol and a German patrol commanded by Count Zeppelin (later famous for the building of airships). Gundershoffen has been considerably developed without losing any of its character as an Alsatian village.
