A pretty village situated on the foothills of the Northern Vosges. The 'Schieweschlawe', the survival of a pagan tradition, consists in the hurling of burning wooden discs from the mountain-top whose trajectory generates thousands of sparks in the night sky. This custom, which marked the awakening of nature and during which marriages were predicted, is still practised on the first Sunday of Lent. Also to be seen: the 'Maison du Village', a Museum of popular arts and traditions and the ruins of Frauenkirch .
