Hostel Schafert

The Schafert rises majestically above Kruth-Wildenstein Lake. The ancient farm has gradually been restyled to adjust to the needs of agriculture and the inn, without taking away any of the charm and special character of this farm inn, which offers you “marcaire” farm meals in a typical, warm atmosphere and cheeses produced on the farm to buy and take away.
Road access: from the Thur Valley (RN 66) to Kruth-Wildenstein Lake (D13), a fine mountain road leads to Markstein. Follow it for 2/3 of a mile before leaving it to take the forest route to the farm.
Access on foot: Kruth-Wildenstein Lake (45 min), Kruth (1 hour 30 minutes).
Hiking: Breitfirst(1 hour 15 minutes), Rothenbachkopf (1 hour 30 minutes), Altenweiher (2 hours 30 minutes), Hohneck (3 hours), Markstein (2 hours 30 minutes).
Summer leisure pursuits: gathering small fruits, fishing and bathing in Kruth-Wildenstein Lake, 2 miles away.
