Description
The municipality of Gundershoffen extends eastwards into a hilly landscape around the neighboring municipality of Eberbach and the hamlet of Schirlenhof. This is where the first battle of the 1870 war took place between a French hunter patrol and a German patrol under the command of Count Zeppelin (later famous for building airships).
The municipality has developed significantly, but has lost none of its Alsatian village character.
The snack food manufacturer Bœhli settled here in 1998. Today, visitors to the Bœhli pretzel factory can discover the history of this company and the history of the pretzel.
