The cemetery is listed as a historical monument. Originally, the Mennonites buried their dead in their gardens. From the 19th century onwards, the Mennonites at Salm chose a special plot as a burial site, with the location of the graves today marked by steles characterised by their unusual shapes and decorative features including a simple engraved heart. Unlike the cemetery at Bourg-Bruche, this one is no longer used. It is also situated on private property.
